The Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers & Distributors (ICMAD) celebrated its annual Young Designers Competition in New York City on October 10th. Ben Bennett, of Hatch Beauty, was the keynote speaker at the dinner celebration.

The annual competition showcases the talents of students studying package design and inspires future creative talent in the beauty industry. The winning design students are: Tara Meyer, from Miami International University of Art/Design, won first place; Samantha Galvez, from Miami International University of Art/Design, won second place; and Matt Zonona, from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, won third place. They were flown to New York City to attend the event, and participate in an educational tour of C.O. Bigelow, The Color Association and RPG.

Judged by a prestigious panel of cosmetic and personal care packaging design experts, each student received a 30ml bottle, which was donated by East Hill Industries based in Dallas. The criterion was to create the overall packaging concept and brand identity.

“Congratulations to the winners, we are honored to offer such a valuable opportunity to future budding designers. We look forward to the Young Designers program continuing to evolve and becoming the catalyst to many others success,” said Pam Busiek, president & CEO, ICMAD.
